The pharmacist didn’t make a big deal

I took the morning after pill after a condom came off. I was in Birmingham where I was meeting a long distance partner.

I think I was very lucky. The city centre pharmacy was open, had a private consultation space, there was no one behind me in the queue and no one made me feel like this was any different from asking for any other over the counter drug, like a strong painkiller or something like that. The pharmacist didn’t make a big deal out of asking the questions, no one shamed me and no one delivered more than a cursory reference to how you shouldn’t rely on emergency contraception. I wish more people had straightforward experiences too.
