My experiences of taking the morning after pill have been largely positive.

The first time I used it, my then boyfriend and I were drunk and didn’t use a condom. I was grateful for its availability. It was irresponsible not to use protection, but responsible to then go and buy the morning after pill. We all make mistakes.

The second time I used it was due to a condom split. My experience going to get it from the pharmacy was pretty good, but you do feel embarrassed asking for it. British attitudes to sex are kind of dated, and I think social stigmas are a legacy of that. I just wish emergency contraception was more readily available to everyone, but hopefully in time that will be the case.

ellaOne® 30mg film-coated tablet contains ulipristal acetate and is indicated for emergency contraception within 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Always read the label.
